Our Story

I started collecting sports cards the same way many people in the hobby did - as a kid - sorting  cards on the floor, organizing by team and rookies, trading with friends, and spending weekends hanging out at the local card shop. Ripping packs was a luxury, but collecting itself was the real joy.

Like many, I drifted away. I moved around, served in the military, built a career, and the hobby became something I “used to do,” with my childhood box of cards stored with family.

Rediscovering the Hobby

Years later, I found my way back. A close friend - a former history teacher - encouraged me to revisit the cards I’d held onto for decades. It was exciting and, honestly, bittersweet as I realized I grew up in the heart of the junk wax era.

He had returned to collecting through Pokémon with his kids, and I joined in as they got interested in sports cards. We celebrated hits over text, and when together, ripped boxes around the kitchen table like we were kids again.

Why Collecting Still Matters

I realized the world of trading cards—sports cards, TCG, sealed wax, singles—is much more than the products themselves. In a world that often feels disconnected and can at times be lonely, the hobby became an outlet. It offered connection, community, and comfort. The joy was in the process: learning, chasing, sorting, sharing.

Building Library of Cards

I started Library of Cards to bring the positive parts of the hobby together. A modern “library” for collectors, a place to explore sealed wax, browse singles, learn about the hobby and the history behind the cards we love, stay up to date on current happenings in the hobby, and feel welcome whether you’re brand new to the hobby or a seasoned collector.

Our goal is to build a true third space - online and in person - where collectors want to spend time. A space that feels warm and honest - rooted in genuine passion for the hobby.
